Les Misérables
Drama (2012), Frace, Italy, Spain, Germany
Writing his longest novel Les Misérables took Victor Hugo decades, and the author finished it in exile. The story of Jean Valjean, a former criminal (sentenced for a theft of bread) and sent to galley slavery, was written in five volumes. No other Victor Hugo's novel has reached such a resonance. The film version was a co-production made in five countries, including the Czech Republic, where filming was made at Ledeč nad Sázavou Castle.
